All the people in the Norwegian village of Lista, have one thing in common. Their ancestors escaped poverty, and went to the US for a better life in the 19th century. Therefore, Lista have become entranced with American culture. Having renamed itself the American Lista, - the village’s biggest event is the yearly American festival. There we meet Norwegian Asbjørn, who lived the American dream in the 60s. And Kristy, who escaped her life in the US 40 years ago.
